An innovator for 68 years, Waterloo-based Strassburger
Windows and Doors continues to evolve its offerings, pro-
viding a full range of products to serve the new construc-
tion, renovation, light commercial, institutional and
replacement window markets.
CEO and president Bob Strassburger says the second
generation family owned and operated business still oper-
ates with the relationship building and customer satisfac-
tion his father established when he founded the company
in 1949.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about the respect that ap-
plies equally from the one-man operation to the large gen-

eral contractor or sub trade,” he said.
Bob has impressed this value to the third generation of
Strassburgers, his daughters Kim and Lori, and to the many
long-term employees whom he calls “our extended family.”
Understanding that relationships are only part of the pic-
ture, Strassburger Windows and Doors has partnered with
some of the fenestration industry’s leading parts suppliers.
The company uses the unique PH Tech vinyl extrusion sys-
tem to provide engineered performance to all of its win-
dows and doors. The technology allows it to integrate
combinations of windows and doors or patio doors into
one structural system. “You always have to be actively look-
ing for new and niche products to provide clients with new
options and opportunities,” Strassburger said.
Its close ties with PH Tech, an international company,
also allows Strassburger to watch trends around the globe
and predict trends and demands that will come to the
North American market. “Along with our complete line of
North American style windows and doors we offer a Euro-
pean inspired tilt and turn window and door series. This Eu-
ropean design provides greater security and can change
from a swing open function to a tilt-in function to allow for
optimal venting with the turn of a handle.”
The European lines also allow for larger windows and
doors that can be built up to 16 ft. wide. The company’s
new parallel gliding glass door, allows for individual oper-
ating panels of six to seven ft. wide and up to eight and a
half ft. tall. “Next year we’ll be adding a bi-fold door from
the same family and a multi-glide patio door that will give
homeowners more flexibility.”
Strassburger Windows and Doors also offers style and
décor options in its product line with six natural stains, 50
standard colours as well as custom colour matching. The
wide variety in styles and colour options allows for a per-
sonal look and function for homeowners.
“For some its all about curb appeal, for others it’s about
making windows and doors part of their interior décor, and
for others, it’s the importance on connecting to the world
outside, either for light or a connection to outdoor living
spaces,” he said.
Reflecting its quality commitment, all Strassburger win-
dows and doors have been tested to comply with the new
NAFS (North American Fenestration Standard) which dic-
tates more stringent requirements for energy performance,
air infiltration, water resistance and design pressure.
Strassburger says there are new options available now,
and some exciting hi-tech innovations yet to come with re-
spect to glazing options, including coloured glass. “The per-
formance of windows and doors is much more complex
now. This is all laying the groundwork for a future of net
zero homes. It’s a very exciting time and we are looking for-
ward to seeing how it all moves forward, and to bringing
new options to our clients.”
Never one to rest on its laurels, he says the company is
also into an exciting year, as it finalizes online tools for
clients and homeowners, and launches its own in-house
training program.
“We have a whole year planned around industry experts
coming to share their insights and expertise with our staff
to help them further their own education and evolution and
to ensure we are equipped with the latest knowledge and
expertise available in the industry.”
