Sean Strickland departs
OCS for Pomerleau
Former Aecon CEO Terrance
McKibbon appointed as CEO
for Bird Construction Inc.
Sean Strickland has left the Ontario Construction
Secretariat (OCS) to become director of business de-
velopment with Pomerleau.
Strickland started his new career on April 24.
For eight years, Strickland has led the provincial or-
ganization jointly representing unions and employers
within the organized labour sector. Among other initia-
tives, OCS organizes an annual state of the Industry
and Outlook Conference (held this year in Toronto in
March). An OCS spokesperson said director of operations
Christine Allenby “will be handling the day to day work-
ings” and the board will handle the rest.
“We don’t expect to have anyone in place for three
to six months,” he said.
“Sean certainly brought the secretariat’s profile to a
new level,” David Frame, director of government rela-
tions for the Ontario General Contractors Association,
was quoted as saying in a published report.
“He knows the industry well and is a natural pro-
moter. Pomerleau is fortunate to have him on board.”

previously was Aecon Group
Inc.’s president and CEO,
will lead Bird’s construction
operations “to further en-
hance the firm’s position as a premier Canadian contractor
driven by the passion and dedication of our team of con-
struction professionals.”
“We welcome Teri to Bird and are excited to have him join
our company,” Bird president and CEO Ian Boyd said in a
statement. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experi-
ence in the Canadian construction market with a proven
track record of success. His expertise and leadership will
help drive our performance as well as advance our strategic
initiatives to further diversify our business.”
McKibbon has more than 30 years’ experience in the con-
struction industry “where he is recognized for his strategic
capabilities, dedication and operational excellence,” the
news release said.
Before joining Bird, he spent more than two decades with
Aecon Group Inc. where he held positions in senior manage-
ment and executive roles. In his last three years at Aecon,
he held the position of president and chief executive officer.
