The Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes (CBHCC) is seeking volunteers to help develop the 2030 National Model Codes. The development of the codes is expected to kick off in January 2025.

The CBHCC is seeking volunteers who are interested in code development and have experience in a range of areas including design and construction of buildings, engineering, architecture, building use and operation, structural and earthquake design, heating ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, fire protection, accessibility, energy efficiency, environmental science, and hazardous materials and activities.

Applicants will be required to submit a short biography and description of their skills and expertise related to code development.

The Standing Codes Co-ordination Committee (SCCC) will be established by the CBHCC in the summer of 2024. This committee will coordinate information sharing between different code development committees during the 2030 code cycle. The CBHCC aims to establish code development committees in the fall of 2024 with task groups being struck on an as-needed basis.

Travel expenses incurred for attending in-person meetings will be reimbursed for committee members. Hospitality will also be provided.

The application will be available online at this link: https://cbhcc-cchcc.ca/en/volunteer-to-serve-on-a-code-development-committee/
