The Calgary Construction Association (CYCA) has compiled the latest statistics and figures about the state of the construction industry in Calgary and Alberta.
Key findings include:
- 21,317 building permits were issued by the City of Calgary in 2023
- Total building permit value in the City was $5.96B, up four per cent year over year from 2022
- Construction’s direct contribution to Calgary’s GDP was 8.6 per cent (not including professional services, insurance, management, etc).
- Q3 2023 saw 7,560 vacancies in construction and construction management jobs – or roughly 1 in 4 of all job vacancies in Calgary.
