Canadian company wins bid for refinery in Dubai


The Canadian engineering company SNC-Lavalin has been awarded the contract for extended basic engineering and design and delivery of an advanced topping refinery in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

SNC-Lavalin will oversee the initial basic engineering, master planning, process technology evaluation and selection supporting the project’s financial investment decision approvals, according to MEED.

The operator of the project is Florexx International Investments based in Dubai. The agreement between SNC-Lavalin and Florexx includes construction of a 100,000 barrel-a-day refinery, complemented by non-process technical and non-technical buildings and support infrastructure.
