The Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) has launch eight new and updated documents.

CCDC 23 – A Guide to Calling Bids and Awarding Construction Contracts is a new flagship and industry-leading document for procurement authorities, The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) reports.

Meanwhile, “CCDC Master Specification for Division 00: Procurement and Contracting Requirements is a first for CCDC and part of a longer-term effort to introduce more specification documents through CCDC. Using standard documents allows you to build trust, simplify bidding and contracting, allocate risk fairly as well as feel confident and represented.”

“With the release of CCDC 23 and Division 00, owners in the Canadian construction industry are gaining powerful tools to create procurement and contracting documents for their projects,” the CCA says in a statement.

  • CCDC 23 provides recommended best practices for procuring construction services by means of a competitive bidding process using the lowest bid procurement method. It addresses all aspects of the bid calling and contract award process including principles under the law of competitive bidding, overview of the bid documents, calling for bids, receiving bids as well as awarding the contract.
  • CCDC Division 00 provides standard text that reflects the recommended procurement and contracting best practices in CCDC 23. It includes a series of editable procurement and contracting templates with spec notes to explain the intended use of each section, assist the editing process, and indicate when co-ordination is required.
