Brampton – Construction is underway on Fire Station 215 in Brampton, a state-of-the-art, environmentally sustainable facility designed to enhance emergency response in the city’s rapidly growing northeast community.
Mississauga-based EllisDon Corporation is the project’s construction manager.
“Investing in infrastructure like Station 215 is critical to meeting the service demands of a growing city,” said Paul Vicente, public works chair. “The station’s innovative all-electric design is aligned with Brampton’s broader climate and infrastructure goals and represents how we can build better while doing right by the environment and our emergency responders.”
Located at 10539 Goreway Drive in Ward 10, Station 215 will be Brampton’s first fully electric fire station. The 11,377-square-foot, two-bay facility will feature electric fire trucks, a hose tower, a green roof, rooftop solar panels, and energy-efficient HVAC systems. The station is projected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 15 tonnes annually, equivalent to removing more than four gas-powered vehicles from the road or planting 666 trees each year.
The station was designed by Design Partners in Architecture and Interiors (DPAI), a Hamilton-based firm known for its sustainable, community-focused designs. DPAI incorporated features such as ample glazing for natural views, dormitory rooms with subtle amber lighting to reduce firefighter stress during night calls, and other elements to enhance both efficiency and occupant comfort.
“Station 215 is a critical addition to our emergency services network and a reflection of our commitment to both public safety and environmental leadership,” said Mayor Patrick Brown. “By building a fully electric fire station, we will be able to respond faster to emergencies while reducing emissions to build a more sustainable city for future generations.”
Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2026.
