Helmets to Hardhats (H2H) has received new funding from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to expand its programs that help Veterans, Reservists, Cadets, and military family members transition into careers in Canada’s skilled trades.

The national non-profit organization says the federal investment will allow it to strengthen mentorship and employment support services while expanding its outreach capacity through the hiring of three new Veteran Outreach Specialists — all of whom are former service members.

“These advisors will help participants access training, certifications, and direct pathways to employment in Canada’s unionized skilled trades,” said H2H executive director James Hogarth. “ESDC’s support helps Veterans build the skills needed for trades careers while navigating the transition with guidance from those who served.”

The new funding comes as major infrastructure and construction initiatives across Canada create growing demand for skilled workers. H2H says its expanded team will be better positioned to help Veterans apply their military experience to high-demand trades and build sustainable second careers.

Helmets to Hardhats operates in partnership with Canada’s Building Trades Unions and employers across the country to provide training, mentorship, and employment connections for military community members entering the trades.
