Intertek says it is expanding its building and construction operations in Canada with the rollout of geotechnical and construction materials testing services. These new offerings follow Intertek’s 2015 acquisition of PSI—an engineering consulting and testing firm focused on the construction sector— that brought a testing and assurance service portfolio across the project and building lifecycle to a broader customer base in the U.S. The services will now reach the Canadian market from the company’s Coquitlam, BC location.
The new services include project specification reviews, soil and concrete materials testing, field studies, laboratory testing and analysis, inspections, project monitoring, testing in full size environmental chambers, mix designs review and design services. In addition to standard test procedures, (as established by ASTM International, Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Ministries of Transportation (MOTs), Departments of Transportation (DOTs) or the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) Intertek is also able to develop and simulate bespoke test environments to meet client needs.
Daniel St-Pierre, engineering manager of construction services at Intertek-PSI said: “At Intertek-PSI, we are always looking for ways to build on our expertise, offering our customers Total Quality Assurance solutions throughout a project’s life cycle. We’re delighted to add on-site geotechnical and construction testing services here in Canada, giving our customers more complete solutions through our fully engaged team.”
