As part of the Nova Scotia Community College’s (NSCC) expansion plans, two new student housing facilities have been opened at the Akerley and Pictou campuses, which will welcome 150 students in 2024.

The new facilities are part of an effort to address the growing need for student accommodation in Nova Scotia, the college said in a news release.

“The college is so excited to open two new housing facilities adjacent to our Akerley and Pictou campuses which will welcome 150 of our learners to a safe, accessible and welcoming place to live while studying,” says NSCC President Don Bureaux.

The two new facilities are one of three phases of student housing development at the college, with another facility scheduled to open in the fall of 2025 at Ivany Campus in Dartmouth, which will welcome 200 students.

The college said they are also planning four more housing facilities in Cumberland, IT, Kingstec and Lunenburg Campuses, which will include 811 student residences.

“Thanks to significant investments by the province, these resources will make a positive contribution to both our students and to the housing inventory in these two communities,” said Bureaux.
