REGINA — Saskatchewan posted the highest month-over-month growth in building construction investment among all provinces in August, according to new data from Statistics Canada.

Investment in the province grew 6.9 per cent in August 2025 compared to July 2025, on a seasonally-adjusted basis.

“These numbers tell a powerful story,” Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding said in an October news release. “Saskatchewan is growing, and attracting more people and investment to our province. Whether it is new homes or commercial developments, this growth reflects the confidence people have in our province as a great place to live, work, and build a future.”

The province also saw strong year-over-year growth. Investment in building construction jumped 14.9 per cent from August 2024 to August 2025 (seasonally-adjusted).

The construction data reflects a broader economic trend. Statistics Canada’s latest figures show Saskatchewan’s real GDP at basic prices reached an all-time high of $80.5 billion in 2024. This was a 3.4 per cent increase, placing Saskatchewan second in the nation for real GDP growth and above the 1.6 per cent national average.

Private capital investment in 2024 increased by 17.3 per cent to $14.7 billion, ranking first among provinces. That investment is projected to reach $16.2 billion in 2025, a 10.1 per cent increase over 2024 and the second-highest anticipated percentage increase among the provinces.

The provincial government highlighted its “Securing the Next Decade of Growth – Saskatchewan’s Investment Attraction Strategy” as a factor in the results.
