The Winnipeg Construction Association (WCA) reports that overall, building permits have incerased by 15 per cent year to date (January 1 to March 31) to $747.2 million from $647.6 million for the first three months of 2016.
“While construction starts in the non-residential sector are down about 13 per cent compared to the same point at 2016, total construction starts are up over 15 per cent across the industry, largely fuelled by a 77 per cent increase in multiple family residential starts,” the WCA said in its report.
Permits declined in industrial and institutional construction.
