The Canadian Paint and Coatings Association (CPCA) will honour seven individuals with industry awards for their distinguished contributions to the association and the paint and coatings industry in Canada. The awards will be presented at CPCA’s upcoming annual conference in Niagara-on-the-Lake on May 27 to 29, 2015.

“We are pleased to recognize seven deserving individuals this year who have all made important contributions to their companies and accomplished important work on behalf of the association throughout their careers,” says Tim Vogel, vice-president of Cloverdale Paint and CPCA board chair.

Robert Fierheller of PPG, Jim Leamen of L.V. Lomas and Doug Parsons of Home Hardware will be presented with the 2015 Industry Achievement Award. This award is presented to individuals or organizations that have demonstrated exceptional achievement in advancing the interests of the industry and the association.

Fierheller has been a strong supporter of CPCA’s Management Information Committee (MIC) and the association’s architectural sales survey for many years, as well as a regular participant at CPCA’s annual conferences. Leamen is being honoured for his invaluable contributions to CPCA’s Health, Safety and Environment Committee, its Paint and Coatings Working Group and many sectoral consultation meetings. Parsons has been a long-standing member of CPCA’s Product Stewardship Committee and he was an instrumental member of CPCA’s Convention Committee for a number of years.

The 2015 Industry Statesman Award will be presented to Bryon Brideau of BASF, Brian Edwards of Dupont Performance Coatings, Ian Goodwin of Huntsman and Martin Menard of Celanese. This award is presented to individuals who have recently retired or are retiring and have made a significant contribution to the association at the national or local level. All four of these individuals have been strong representatives of the paint and coatings industry throughout their careers.
