Construction is now underway on the Ontario Line subway project, with work started on the Don Valley Crossing Bridge and West Don Crossing Bridge.

The Ontario Line will exit an underground tunnel at Minton Place and travel over the Don Valley, connecting to elevated guideways through Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park. This route is expected to cut transit times by more than half.

“Today, we are delivering on our vision for the Greater Toronto Area with all contracts awarded and construction underway,” said Prabmeet Sarkaria, Minister of Transportation. “This ambitious transit plan will alleviate gridlock and support economic growth.”

Construction crews are also excavating sites for stations, including King-Bathurst and Corktown, which will improve access to popular areas like the Distillery District. The Osgoode Station will link directly to the TTC’s Line 1, helping to ease crowding at Union Station.

Once complete, the line will span 15 stations from Exhibition Place to Don Mills Road, connecting with multiple transit services and reducing daily car trips by an estimated 28,000.

Major upgrades are also underway in Toronto’s east end, including new bridge construction.

The Ontario Line will support 4,700 jobs annually during construction over the next decade.

Funded in part by the Government of Canada, the initiative aligns with the new Canada Public Transit Fund.
