The City of Mississauga is inviting the public to vote for their favourite design project as part of the 2025 Mississauga Urban Design Awards.

Voting for the People’s Choice Award is open until Aug. 31 and can be completed online at mississauga.ca/urbandesignawards. The award is open to all members of the public, regardless of age or residency, and each person may vote once.

The annual awards program recognizes excellence in urban design and celebrates projects that help shape Mississauga into a more functional, inclusive and innovative city. The awards are divided into three categories: urban elements, private projects and public projects.

Urban elements refer to standalone features that enhance public spaces. Private projects include buildings or developments that demonstrate design excellence, while public projects are accessible buildings or spaces that serve the community.

Since 1981, the Mississauga Urban Design Awards have honoured projects that “raise the bar and transform our shared spaces and reinforce our city as a leader in innovation, cultural richness and progressive planning,” according to the project webpage.

Each edition has a unique theme that reflects “today’s priorities and tomorrow’s vision”. The 2025 theme, “Reflections and Visions,” honours past achievements while looking ahead to future opportunities for growth and transformation.

Winners, including the People’s Choice Award recipient, will be announced on Oct. 23.
