CertainTeed, a North American manufacturer of building materials, has announced the winners of the 7th annual CertainTeed Gypsum Trophy Awards, including six Canadian projects.
The competition recognizes drywall and finishing contractors in the United States and Canada on their design skills with gypsum. It spans various categories, such as creativity, innovation, and sustainability.
“While this marks only the seventh Trophy Award for CertainTeed, the pause we had to take due to the pandemic made us realize how quickly this has become a luminary moment in our industry to honor and celebrate the innovative uses of our gypsum products, and the incredible teams behind them,” said Mathew P. Byrne, vice-president sales for Interior Products Group, USA. “In a season where labor shortages compound challenges met with timelines, budgets, and outside-the-box design requests, the winners we’ve selected this year embody the true artisanship required to be an exceptional gypsum professional.”
2024 Canadian winners:
- Benmar Drywall Systems – Holy Trinity Mausoleum, Markham
- DMD Triangle Drywall & Acoustics Ltd – Centennial College A – Building, Toronto
- J. Daly Contracting Limited – St. Catherine of Siena, Hamilton

Winners are invited to attend the 7th CertainTeed Gypsum Trophy Awards event, which will be held from October 17 to 19, 2024, at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff, AB.
Three Canadian companies will serve as ambassadors at the 14th Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy Awards in Paris, France in April 2025, to compete with contractors from around the world.
