The federal government has announced $19 million for 10 construction and homebuilding manufacturers in Ontario.
Funding will help the companies grow their operations and enhance their manufacturing capabilities.
Toronto-based Assembly Corp. which specializes in affordable, sustainable, and prefabricated wood housing. The company recently formed a partnership with Lindbäcks Group, a Swedish leader in factory-built housing, will receive $4 million to introduce advanced manufacturing technologies to Canada and boost the country’s industrialized housing sector.
Assembly Corp. will receive $4 million to enhance its manufacturing capacity for sustainable housing solutions, aiming to meet the growing demand in urban markets. “With the support of FedDev Ontario, we’ve secured factory equipment that can produce over 1,000 sustainable housing units annually to help address Canada’s housing needs,” said CEO Geoff Cape.
Other companies benefiting from the funding include:
- CABN (Brockville), which designs net-zero prefabricated home kits, will receive $1.5 million to upgrade its manufacturing equipment.
- Diamond Manufacturing (Markham), a maker of steel fire doors and frames, will receive $976,000 to automate production and bring manufacturing capabilities in-house.
- Innovatools Inc. (Vars), which creates construction tools, will receive $414,000 to improve efficiency and adopt new equipment.
- Inter Build Limited (Bolton), a structural contractor specializing in prefabricated cold-formed steel, will receive $2.5 million to integrate automated manufacturing equipment for greater productivity.
- MetaLigna Modular Inc. (Arnprior), which produces light gauge steel prefabricated building products, will also receive $2.5 million to enhance manufacturing through advanced equipment.
- New Earth Solutions Inc. (Guelph), a company focused on green infrastructure, will receive $220,000 to develop a digital platform highlighting the benefits of green infrastructure in building performance.
- Northland Paving (Scarborough), which provides site servicing and excavation, will receive $1.6 million to establish a precast facility in Shelburne in response to growing demand for advanced construction technologies.
- Trusscore Inc. (Palmerston), a materials science company, will use $2.3 million to commercialize a new digital paint product for their PVC wall and ceiling board alternatives to drywall.
- UCEL Inc. (Uxbridge), a provider of building hoist solutions, will receive $2.75 million to design, commercialize, and manufacture vertical access solutions.
By expanding production and adopting cutting-edge equipment, these manufacturers are boosting productivity and developing innovative solutions to help address Canada’s housing challenges.
Since 2015, FedDev Ontario has invested more than $25 million in 14 construction-related projects, which have supported more than 500 jobs.
