The City of Dauphin in Manitoba is getting a major upgrade to its road network, with the Manitoba government announcing a $21.8 million investment to reconstruct a 1.8-kilometre stretch of Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 5A.
The project will see PTH 5A reconstructed from Triangle Road to Whitmore Avenue, including intersection improvements, traffic signals, service road construction, concrete curbing, raised medians, sidewalks, culvert installations, granular subgrade, granular base course, and bituminous pavement.
“This investment marks a significant step forward for the City of Dauphin, enhancing not only the safety and accessibility of our roads but also supporting our growth as a regional hub,” said Dauphin Mayor David Bosiak.
In addition to the PTH 5A upgrades, the project also includes the construction of a land drainage and retention pond system for the City of Dauphin, funded by the city. Manitoba funded infrastructure for this project, including 885 meters of underground pipe and two retention ponds, totaling $9.6 million.
The province also announced a $1.3 million investment to construct a bituminous pavement on a 0.8-kilometre section of PTH 5A in Dauphin from Whitmore Avenue to Fourth Avenue South.
“These upgrades to PTH 5A will improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety while fostering economic development for our community and region,” Bosiak said. “We are grateful to the Manitoba government for their commitment to infrastructure, which strengthens both our local economy and our quality of life.”
