The Canadian Paint and Coatings Association’s (CPCA) will present its highest honour, the Roy Kennedy Outstanding Achievement Award for 2015, to Mark Kurschner, president of Product Care Association at the association’s annual convention in May.
In a news release, the association says it presents the award to an individual for dedication to the paint and coatings industry and his outstanding volunteer service to the association and its members.
The Product Care Association, a non-profit industry association, manages extended producer responsibility (EPR) and product stewardship programs across Canada and in the U.S.
Kurschner’s educational background includes both science and law. After 12 years as a corporate lawyer in Vancouver, Mr. Kurschner “shifted gears” into business association management and was appointed as the product care association’s president in 2002.
“I am delighted to see Mark receive this recognition,” said CPCA president Gary LeRoux. “Mark’s strong leadership, vision and dedication to the paint and coatings industry were vital in securing approval for Product Care as the new program operator for post-consumer paint in Ontario. Product Care is instrumental in the paint industry recovering approximately one kilogram per Canadian of leftover paint annually.”
Past recipients of the Roy Kennedy Outstanding Achievement Award include Mike Klein, (Dominion Colour Corporation), Dale Constantinoff (General Paint Corporation), Darrin Noble (Home Hardware), Brian Edwards (DuPont Performance Coatings) and Wink Vogel (Cloverdale Paint).
The CPCA annual conference and AGM are scheduled for May 27 to 29 in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
