Special Report

November is a month dedicated to honouring the brave men and women who have served or are serving our nation in the Canadian military. This month offers Canadians a chance to collectively pause to remember their sacrifices and pay tribute to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, defending the values, rights and freedoms Canadians cherish. The day of Nov. 11 is dedicated to them.

At Helmets to Hardhats (H2H), we believe that because of our veterans’ dedicated service, we are responsible for providing our services to Veterans as they find rewarding second careers within Canada’s building trades unions. This mission drives Helmets to Hardhats, as we think about Veterans every day, all year long.

Veterans transitioning to construction careers through Helmets to Hardhats

Approximately 8500 Canadian Armed Force (CAF) members leave the military each year and face the often-daunting task of transitioning into civilian life. This can be a challenging experience: adjusting to a less regimented lifestyle, and competing with other Canadians to find meaningful and well-paying employment.

This year, as we remember the veterans who have served our great country, Helmets to Hardhats encourages you to stand up for the Veterans looking for careers in your communities.

While BuildForce Canada estimates that the construction industry needs to recruit 299,200 new workers by 2032, Helmets to Hardhats understands the importance of promoting promising second careers to an untapped demographic of talent to support the unionized construction industry.

As we grow the workforce to keep pace with industry needs, many opportunities in the skilled trades require a trained, skilled and reliable workforce. These qualities are just some ways our supporters have described the Veterans they have hired through Helmets to Hardhats.

By completing our free online registration process, as a union or employer, you can search an elite workforce from our secure database. You can access hundreds of resumes, search for potential employees by trade and location, post available opportunities and work with Helmets to Hardhats to tailor direct outreach to our extensive client base. Together, we can ensure that the construction industry in Canada continues to grow and thrive with the value added by hiring a Veteran.

Helmets to Hardhats encourages you to remember the fallen this Remembrance Day while standing up for the value added by a Veteran to the skilled trades.

Don’t forget, hire a vet!
