Calgary-based Stuart Olson Inc. (Olson) has announced that its industrial group has been awarded approximately $80 million in new contracts.

The projects include the provision of complete mechanical, electrical and instrumentation services to a major mining company operating in Ontario. The company also secured a number of insulation services contracts with traditional customers in Western Canada,

“These awards further strengthen our backlog and represent significant wins for our Industrial Group,” president and CEO David LeMay said in a statement. “The mining contract illustrates our diversification across industrial segments and geographic markets, and our ability to provide multi-services to our clients. The insulation contracts expand our longstanding relationships with key customers.”

The mining project is expected to commence in late 2016 and be completed in early 2018, while the insulation services contracts are expected to be largely completed this year. These contracts will be added to the company’s backlog in the third quarter of 2016.

Olson provides general contracting and electrical building systems contracting in the public and private construction markets as well as electrical, mechanical and specialty trades, such as insulation, cladding and asbestos abatement, in the industrial construction and services market.
