The Gold Seal certification program, the leading Canadian certification program for construction management professionals, announced today the launch of a new sponsorship program called Gold Seal Employer.

In the past Gold Seal certification program’s sponsorship opportunities have been limited to individuals who could become Gold Seal Champions. Now, in response to requests from construction companies, the Gold Seal certification program is enabling companies employing Gold Seal Certified (GSC) or Professional, Gold Seal Certified (P.GSC) construction management professionals to promote professional development, industry awareness and continued education through the Gold Seal Employer sponsorship program.

Increase your visibility and credibility within the construction industry – become a Gold Seal employer

“Employing Gold Seal Certified staff already says a lot about how you value professionalism and ongoing education, said Barry Brown, chair of Canadian Construction Association’s Gold Seal committee. “The Gold Seal employer sponsorship program enables construction companies to further increase their visibility and credibility within their clients, potential clients and the construction industry as a whole.”

The Gold Seal employer sponsorship program has an annual membership fee of $1,000 which is re-invested into the Gold Seal certification program. The benefits include an official sponsorship certificate, Gold Seal Employer logo, a promotional package, name inclusion on the Gold Seal website, mention in Gold Seal’s communications well as a copy of the Gold Seal as an HR Strategy document.

Many companies integrate Gold Seal into their HR strategy

By integrating Gold Seal into the corporate culture, a construction company can enhance the recruitment of new employees and the retention of skilled workers. “Some employers – both large and small – systematically enroll all of their construction management staff into the Gold Seal Certification program,” said Stephanie Wallace who manages the program. “For them, Gold Seal is part of the human resources (HR) strategy, part of the professional development strategy and part of the performance management process”.

”We encourage and reward staff for ongoing education. Most of our senior staff is Gold Seal Certified (GSC) or pursuing it,” said Jason Ball, president of Ball Construction, an Ontario-based ICI general contractor. “Continuous improvement is important to staff and achieving GSC is a measurable goal. We support the program because it is a great tool that recognizes experience, education and professionalism in the industry on a national level.”

“Kenaidan has a strong commitment to the ongoing professional development of our staff through the Kenaidan Centre for Learning, said Deborah Fillippe, vice-president of HR for Kenaidan Contracting, a company providing general contracting, design build, construction management and preconstruction services. “The Gold Seal program is integrated into ours and the Gold Seal Certified designation has become a measurement of our employees’ success with their professional development. Our goal is to have all eligible staff certified so we support them through all phases of the process from course reimbursement through to application, exam preparation and recognition for passing the exam.”
